​SCHOLARSHIP / RESEARCH.

DAVIS’ RESEARCH focuses on racial justice in teacher education, critical collaborative ethnography, and critical poetic inquiry.

DAVIS’ INNOVATIVE ​RESEARCH HAS BEEN PRESENTED 
AT SEVERAL CONFERENCES INCLUDING American Educational Research Association, the International Congress of Qualitative Inquiry, The National Council on Teachers of English, The National Association of Multicultural Educators, The National Performance Network, The Kennedy Center, The International Symposium on Poetic Inquiry.

SHE HAS PUBLISHED IN PEER REVIEWED JOURNALS SUCH AS Qualitative Inquiry; Equity and Excellence in Education; The Journal of Middle School Education, Art/Research International: A Transdisciplinary Journal; Ubiquity: The Journal of Literature, Literacy, and the Arts; The Journal of Hip Hop Studies; and The Journal of School and Society.

GRANTS

DAVIS IS A MEMBER OF THE GEORGIA STATE UNIVERSITY, CREATE TEACHER RESIDENCY RESEARCH TEAM. THIS TEAM WAS AWARDED 8 MILLION DOLLARS IN FUNDING FROM THE SUPPORTING EFFECTIVE EDUCATORS DEVELOPMENT (SEED) GRANT BY THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION IN 2017.

THIS TEAM WAS AWARDED ANOTHER 14 MILLION IN SEVERAL SEED AWARDS IN 2020.

TEACHING.

DR. ​Davis instructs from a critical liberationist framework. She partners with students to create the conditions to facilitate their discovery of innovatIVE approaches to achieve self-liberation and advance educational equity for diverse P-12 learners. She employs a transformative pedagogy characterized by immersive, collaborative classroom experiences that engage and challenge students.
